“For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.” Acts 13:47
“The ends of the earth” ~ has been defined as the furthest reach of man’s dominion.
Paul and Barnabas clearly understood that forgiveness and justification through Jesus Christ are certainly for all people groups; even those who live beyond the realms of the social, economic and ideological mainstream.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.” Romans 10:17-18
First century Christians were obviously diligent about fulfilling the “Great Commission”. Certainly in the age of information with all imaginable technology at our disposal, we too have been diligent in our obedience. Ashamedly, not so.
There are diverse ethnic groups all around the world who live outside, or perhaps we should say in oblivion too, the social advancements of the modern populace. They are isolated people that have little to no contact with, what we would consider, normal civilization. No access to phone, tv, radio, computer or even as much as a newspaper or periodical. Their idea of sustainability is vastly different from the majority of the world’s population. The daily procurement of food and personal safety lie atop of their priority list. They have no idea what takes place in the world around them. Therefore, they have absolutely no gospel witness, and no means of obtaining it, unless someone take it to them.
Anthropologists and philanthropists tell us that the largest concentration of these people lives within the Amazon region of South America.
The Amazon for Christ Outreach Ministry is tasked with helping those who cannot help themselves. The Lord has given us the opportunity to use the tool of health care to demonstrate the love of Christ. With medical evangelism, we can partner with health care professionals to offer simple medical care that is much needed and otherwise unavailable.
This gives us an opportunity to share the Gospel of the Scriptures. By planting seeds of the Gospel, people are provided with an opportunity to receive forgiveness of sins and justification through the Lord Jesus Christ, such as should be given to all mankind. God has afforded us that privilege, therefore, we are obligated to grant it to others that are without.
We are not inclined to change their culture nor bring upon them westernized civilization. Neither are we attempting to bring them Americanized religion. We act with the sole purpose of improving the physical and spiritual wellbeing of others; with our foundation being spiritual development. With prayer and supplication we share the love of Christ, sow seeds of the Gospel, and earnestly expect God to give the increase.
Medical attention is given to any and all that will come to our mobile clinics for help. Spiritual attention is given to any and all that will come to Christ for spiritual healing. For those that willingly receive the Gospel, every attempt is made to further their spiritual development. Assistance is given in planting churches to further the existence of a continuous gospel witness in their region.
“O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.” Jeremiah 16:19
“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:22
