1. Amazonas Brazil South America map“For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.” Acts 13:47

“The ends of the earth” ~ has been defined as the furthest reach of man’s dominion.

Paul and Barnabas clearly understood that forgiveness and justification through Jesus Christ are certainly for all people groups; even those who live beyond the realms of the social, economic and ideological mainstream.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.” Romans 10:17-18

First century Christians were obviously diligent about fulfilling the “Great Commission”. Certainly in the age of information with all imaginable technology at our disposal, we too have been diligent in our obedience. Ashamedly, not so.

There are diverse ethnic groups all around the world who live outside, or perhaps we should say in oblivion too, the social advancements of the modern populace. They are isolated people that have little to no contact with, what we would consider, normal civilization.  No access to phone, tv, radio, computer or even as much as a newspaper or periodical. Their idea of sustainability is vastly different from the majority of the world’s population. The daily procurement of food and personal safety lie atop of their priority list. They have no idea what takes place in the world around them. Therefore, they have absolutely no gospel witness, and no means of obtaining it, unless someone take it to them.

4. Village

Anthropologists and philanthropists tell us that the largest concentration of these people lives within the Amazon region of South America.

The Amazon for Christ Outreach Ministry is tasked with helping those who cannot help themselves. The Lord has given us the opportunity to use the tool of health care to demonstrate the love of Christ.  With medical evangelism, we can partner with health care professionals to offer simple medical care that is much needed and otherwise unavailable.

This gives us an opportunity to share the Gospel of the Scriptures. By planting seeds of the Gospel, people are provided with an opportunity to receive forgiveness of sins and justification through the Lord Jesus Christ, such as should be given to all mankind. God has afforded us that privilege, therefore, we are obligated to grant it to others that are without.

We are not inclined to change their culture nor bring upon them westernized civilization. Neither are we attempting to bring them Americanized religion. We act with the sole purpose of improving the physical and spiritual wellbeing of others; with our foundation being spiritual development. With prayer and supplication we share the love of Christ, sow seeds of the Gospel, and earnestly expect God to give the increase.

Medical attention is given to any and all that will come to our mobile clinics for help. Spiritual attention is given to any and all that will come to Christ for spiritual healing. For those that willingly receive the Gospel, every attempt is made to further their spiritual development. Assistance is given in planting churches to further the existence of a continuous gospel witness in their region.

“O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.” Jeremiah 16:19

“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:22

How We Operate

The Amazon is a vast region of dense jungle, permeated by multiple tributaries branching from the Amazon river.  A portion of this land is protected by governments and outsiders are legally forbidden to enter into the protected areas.  However, there are numerous towns and fishing villages along the various channels of water which are not within the restricted areas.  We work within the legal boundaries.

The medical portion of our ministry is conducted by licensed health care practitioners such as dentists, doctors, nurses, optometrists, EMT personnel, etc.  Sharing the Gospel is conducted in a variety of ways by those who can speak the language effectively.

In addition to the previously mentioned skill-sets, laborers are needed to assist in numerous ways with the medical clinics and evangelistic outreach.

The dynamics of each trip will vary depending upon the area in which we are working.  At times, we will take upwards of twenty people and work with local pastors to assist in the  beginning stages of a new church plant.  Other times may involve a smaller group of personnel as we may be entering into new areas with the hopes of planting a new church in the near future.  Occasionally our accommodations will include hotels and restaurants along the Amazon river while other endeavors may be a bit more rigorous; such as sleeping in hammocks and cooking over a camp stove or open fire.

We trust that you will give consideration to how you might take part in one or several endeavors with the Amazon For Christ outreach teams.
